Getting Started in Sailboat Racing

The best way to get starting racing is to join in, first as a crew. Check out our Calendar to see when the next race is scheduled. Contact our Membership coordinator who can put you in touch with someone you can join for the next race.
You'll see that racing is fun both physically and mentally. It hones your sailing like nothing else.
Check out this article on Sailnet by Dan Dickison for more advice.
See you on the water!
Here is a nice introduction to the racing rules: http://www.lightningclass.org/racing/articles/rules/basicracingrules.pdf

There is also an excellent book by Adam Cort and Richard Stearns that takes you through all of the phases of a race. I highly recommend it.
