Independence Day Flag Parade 2011 Photos

I love a parade” comes across our VHF radios from our Event Fleet Captain Bill Pfanstiel, as he relays our parade instructions.  Not even the hot 90 degree temperature discouraged our group of 10 sailboats from attending our 4th of July Parade! Our sailboat parade is always enjoyed by the folks visiting our park on the 4th. After several passes in front of the marina, we motor around the point toward the fishing pier and back. On the way back a few members lowered their flag decorations and raised their sails to take advantage of the great winds. About five decorated sailboats motored over to Compac Cove for our raft up/picnic. Marge Pfanstiel fired up their Compac 23 grill and cooked up a batch of hot dogs. Cherries and grapes were passed around, for dessert we enjoyed cups cakes and chocolate cake. After our fun raft up/picnic we took down our flag decorations, pulled up the anchors, motored out to the middle of the lake, raised our sails and joined the rest of our sail club friends for the last holiday weekend sail!

Enjoy the 4th of July Parade pictures!

If you missed this parade, our next Sail Club parade Raft up/picnic will be held on Labor Day, Monday September 5th at 12:00 noon at the no-wake buoys!
