Labor Day weekend Youth Regatta!

Thank you all for the quick responses and offers of loaner boats and assistance. I am writing an "official" NOR and may request help to publish (Glenn - website? , Mike - fleet email list?) but wanted to give you each a heads up of where we're going with this, and welcome your input. So far we have 3 prospective entrants and are hopeful we can grow that number by spreading the word. To those who have offered boats, thank you and please stand by - at current count we can use 1 laser and I will help with logistics (let's talk).
Regatta Date: Saturday Sept 4, 10:00 am
I am operating under the assumption that without a permit there can be no "formal" racing (at least in appearance) but it is always OK for us to gather as sailors on the water. Would use of the NSC committee boats be viewed as stressing that point (if such use is even allowed by the club charter)? I have a motor for FS5010 and it will make a fine mother ship for the event, it would be great if there were another skipper and boat available to serve as a mark and coach boat. Any volunteers to help RC and coach on the water would surely be welcome.
We are under way making plans for pre race activity (working together to set up and launch), coached warm up's, "racing", lunch, awards and social. If we see enough interest we can pursue a boat-swap format, and also provide options to crew or assist on RC for the those not yet ready to skipper.
It would be great if a local Laser hot-shot (Craig?) was available to give a brief overview and tips discussion to the competitors on land before we start (not to mention on-the-water coaching!).
I hope to have the NOR completed and ready for distribution by Friday afternoon.
