Introduction to Coastal Navigation.

This is to announce that this Saturday at 4:30 PM that I will give an introductory presentation on “Coastal Navigation and Piloting”.  If you are unfamiliar with Navigation concepts and want to get an idea of what navigation is about then you should plan to attend.  I will briefly cover concepts like longitude and latitude, what is a nautical mile, navigation aids and chart # 1, navigation tools, dead reckoning, charts, position fixes, two point fix, three point fix, running fix, estimated positions, danger bearings, the effect of wind current and tide and other important concepts to coastal navigation.  Please understand that Coastal navigation is too big a subject to be able to teach it at a Sail & Learn.  This presentation is an introduction only and will not make a navigator out of anyone.  It is hoped that this presentation will give members unfamiliar with coastal navigation an idea of what the subject is about.  If you are interested in learning about coastal navigation please plan to attend.

Please bring drinks and finger foods to share.
