Steelman Triathlon - Sunday, August 8 - NEEDS YOU!
ATTENTION early risers!!!
The 6th Annual Lehigh Valley Steelman Triathlon has asked NSC for our assistance again to provide a dozen sailboats on Sunday morning August 8th to mark the swim course in the lake. Check the Triathlon website at http://www.steelmantriathlon.com
When: Sunday, August 8, 2010 – arrive by 5:15 AM (or spend the night on your boat!)
Where: Lake Nockamixon Marina
Who: Sailboats and Kayaks – all types and sizes
This is a great opportunity to catch a sunrise on the water, participate in a Triathlon (the easy way), extend the growing NSC goodwill that has been spreading to the Nockamixon community, and help the Make a Wish Foundation http://www.wish.org/
1,000+ athletes from the Delaware Valley and beyond will again descend on Lake Nockamixon before the sun rises! It’s an amazing sight! The athletes and volunteers begin arriving from 4:00am to 6:00am. Our sailboats, kayak volunteers, and huge orange buoys create a channel to guide the swimmers, and provide cheers of encouragement as they follow the race course.
The swim segment will begin at 7:00 AM in waves of 100 athletes, and should be completed by 8:30 to 9:00.
The skipper from each volunteer sailboat signed up by July 18 will receive a 2010 Steelman Triathlon t-shirt with our club burgee on the back along with the other sponsors (I will also need your t-shirt size.) Volunteers are also invited to the triathlon food tent for wake-up coffee, and snacks after the three races are completed.
