Video: Righting and Towing a Turtled Flying Scot
In June I blogged a video showing the techique for righting a capsized Flying Scot. The situation at the time was the mast remained above the surface.
If the boat turtles, the mast goes completely under the hull, it becomes a much more difficult situation.
The video below was produced by DCsail and posted on YouTube. It shows the righting of the Scot and the subsequent towing technique.
After the boat is towed to the dock it still must be drained. This is where the transom port becomes very useful.
To ensure minimal damage when the boat is either hoisted or trailered out of the water, it must be done very slowly. The weight of the water in the hull could easily deform an aluminum trailer and or the hull, if the boat is removed from the water too quickly.

I guess that makes it a good thing that Scot's don't capsize very often...
Memories of the days of Celebrity sailing. Boats that do not self-rescue make for a long tow to the docks.
