(news pending)
The Flying Scot Fleet # 163 “Sterling” Traveling Trophy
The newest trophy for Flying Scot Fleet # 163 is the “Sterling” Trophy presented to the Fleet by George and Linda Balas. This trophy was made by George and includes a “Sterling” hubcap from one of the original Scot trailers - with a Title signed by Gordon Douglass himself laminated into the trophy!! The objective of this new Trophy is to encourage Fleet Members to travel to, and participate in, National and Regional Flying Scot Regattas. Participating boats are awarded "Points" towards the trophy which are calculated by dividing the "Miles Traveled" by the "Finishing Position" of the boat in the event.
The competition should be more intense in 2006 as several members of the Fleet plan to travel to the National Championships, and other distant events. This spectacular trophy must surely stimulate much more Fleet travel in the future.
2005 Winners
Mike and Brenda Noone are the winners of the Flying Scot "Sterling Travel Trophy" for 2005. Their major advantage over the other Fleet "Travelers" was their attendance at the Midwinters Championships, in St Petersburg, which gave them a big start of 171 points for their 13th place finish in the Challenger Fleet. Other Fleet Travels in 2005 included the Wife-Husband Championships and the Silver Piper Championships.
